Thank You Tuesday

Happy September!
I am so glad August is over. It started with my accident, continued with my nephew's visit to the ER for a possible broken arm (turned out to be a bad sprain), and ended with Dad's broken knee and another visit to the ER.

Dad is home recovering from his knee surgery. He seems in good spirit. I was worried he'd be depressed --- a month with a walker in a heavy leg splint and then months with a cane --- the prospect can bring an active person's spirit down.

On top of that, Lucky, the family Shepherd, had a tumor by his anus. I removed the mass last week and he is doing fine.

Our family had enough of hospital and ER. September is much welcomed.

Through it all though, I am thankful that we were fortunate and our family is physically and mentally healthy. I am thankful that I can afford health insurance. I am reminded that we don't stop to be thankful for the things we do have --- we are too busy running after things we don't have.

I used to believe that if something is important, I'd remember it and should not need to "schedule" it. Now I believe that if something is important, it should be scheduled.

So to make sure I don't forget to stop and be thankful for something / someone in my life, I am going to make every Tuesday "Thank You Tuesday".

I am thankful for a loving supportive family. And special thanks to the healthcare workers at Long Beach Memorial and Fountain Valley Hospital. I hope you all know that the current healthcare criticism has more to do with the system than with you. You all do what you can within the confines of a broken system. Thank you.
